The state government has advised people living near Vishow Nallah in Kulgam and other areas in South Kashmir as the flood waters have crossed the last mark at Sangam.

“The habitation residing along the VISHOW NALLAH in KULGAM DISTRICT are advised to move to safer places (higher contours),” read a statement by I&FC on its Facebook page.

Reports said that the water level at Sangam in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district is rising fast.

“Unfortunately water level at Sangam is increasing quite fast, about 1.5 ft per hour. It has crossed 22 ft at 11 pm,” reports said.

At 6 PM today, water level at Sangam was reported at 13ft, reaching to 13.5ft at 7 PM. At 9 PM, the water had crossed 18ft and at 11PM, water has reached to 22ft.

Reports informed that people have evacuated in submerged villages of Aarigutno, Hussanpora, Manigam and other villages of Kulgam district.

Manigam village got submerged after water level in Nallah Yeth Yetru increased suddenly due to a cloudburst at Kund, an adjacent hilly village.
