The family members of a Hurriyat (G) activist Tuesday said that from past three months they are not being allowed to meet Abdul Rasheed Lone whom police picked up in October this year on charges of ‘anti-national’ activities.

“My father Abdul Rasheed was picked upon by police during a nocturnal raid and was lodged in police station Nigeen. He is languishing now in Srinagar Central Jail and we are not allowed to meet him,” 16-year-old daughter of Lone told local news agency CNS.

Lone hails from Telbal Hazratbal area of Srinagar city and according to his family he is affiliated with Syed Ali Geelani led Hurriyat Conference.

“Those who met him in the jail told us that Lone is very ill and needs medical care. He is the sole bread earner for the family. You will not believe his two daughters have not got class 10th text books yet as they can’t afford the price,” said a relative of Abdul Rasheed Lone.

The family members appealed government to release from the prison and allow them to meet him.

Pertinently, Chairman State Human Rights Commission Justice Bilal Ahmed Nazki took note of the arrest of Abdul Rasheed Lone and asked authorities to produce all the details about the arrested person before the Commission.
