Eight of the seven accused including one renowned traders and the son of a police officer have been apprehended by Ganderbal Police in connection with a major burglary incident in the district

Though police didn’t divulge the information about the designations of the accused persons, however, reliable sources said that the accused belong to well-to-do families and were running their own shops in Ganderbal district.

Addressing a press conference, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganderbal Headquartes Rameez Raja said that they received a complaint from one Bashir Ahmed Dar a resident of Natipora Srinagar who deals in tobacco business that burglars have looted his business godown located at Al-Rahat Complex at Beehama Chowk Ganderbal.“

“A special team was constituted and during the investigation it came to fore that 8 persons were responsible for this major burglary incident that was up to the tune of 17 lakh rupees,” he said adding that stolen goods worth Rs17 lakh have been recovered from their possession.A case

A case vide FIR number 246/2016 under section 457,380 have been registered accused the accused. “One accused Qaisar Ahmed Parra is still at large,” he said and identified the rest of the arrested accused as Amin Mir, Umar Ajaz Rather, Sajad Dar all residents of Beehama, Shakir Manzoor Hakim of Dhobipora, Zahoor Baba of Babapora, Naseer Mir of Armpora and Sameer Dar of Malshahibagh Ganderbal.Among these accused, one is the son of a police officer while another is the manager of the same company that was looted by these burglars. Most of these accused run shops in the Ganderbal district.
