Srinagar:
Protesting against the shortage of fertilizers in the market, the Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Sabha on Monday held a protest in press enclave Srinagar.
The protesting farmers said they are facing acute shortage of fertilizers particularly in North Kashmir. The farmers were protesting under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Sabha.
The sudden shortage of fertilizers in the month of March, which is an essential farming period, has taken a heavy toll on the farmers.
“Earlier the fertilizer companies would directly supply the fertilizers to the market. However, since the railway authorities have given the contract to a railway out agency the fertilizers are not able to reach the market in time,” reads a statement of the Sabha.
