Local residents said that the swollen Nallah Sukhnag breached its banks and gushed into the locality, forcing families to evacuate and salvage their belongings as water levels rose rapidly.

“We request the administration to immediately intervene, bolster flood protection measures, and extend relief to the affected families,” the residents said, voicing concern over the deteriorating situation.

A local farmer said he incurred major losses after water entered his residence.
“I had stored paddy grains at home. All of it has been destroyed in the flood,” he told GNS.

Continuous downpour has triggered waterlogging and inundation in several low-lying areas of Budgam. Residents have appealed to the district administration to deploy emergency response teams, assess the damage, and roll out immediate relief and rescue operations as rains persist across the Valley.

Meanwhile, officials said the situation is being closely monitored. People living in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert amid the possibility of a further rise in water levels.(GNS)
