SRINAGAR: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather warning for Jammu and Kashmir, forecasting another spell of rain and thunderstorms across several districts on Wednesday, with heavy to torrential rainfall and brief intense showers likely in parts of the Union Territory.
According to the IMD’s Srinagar station, heavy rain, torrential rain and short-duration intense showers are expected over the plains of Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri and Poonch.
An official of the Meteorological Centre, Srinagar, said the upper catchments of Ramban, Doda, Kulgam, Shopian, Budgam, Baramulla and Kupwara are also likely to receive intense rainfall during the forecast period.
The weather activity is expected between 4:00 am and 3:30 pm on July 22, the IMD said.
Authorities have advised residents, particularly those living in low-lying and vulnerable areas, to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during the period due to the possibility of adverse weather conditions.
