In a shameful incident of its kind, a 9-year-old girl (name with held) has allegedly been raped by her father in Palpora area of Qamarwari on Wednesday here in the outskirts of Srinagar.
According to Srinagar based news gathering agency Global News Service (GNS), the bizarre incident took place in the Pamposh Colony area of Qamarwari around 9 am Wednesday morning.
According to details gathered GNS reporter, the victim’s father Feroz Ahmad Bhat, Son of Abdul Ahad Bhat resident of Pamposh Colony, Qamarwari area allegedly raped his 9-year-old daughter while her mother was outside the house washing utensils. The accused, however, is absconding.
The 9-year-old victim said the accused sent her to buy cigarettes from market. “While I returned to my father’s room to hand over cigarettes to him, he immediately locked the door and pounced on me, while my mother was busy in washing utensils outside home.”
The girl was later on taken to hospital for medical checkup wherein doctors declared it was an “attempt to rape” and no such medical reports suggest any kind of rape.
Mohammad Abdullah Beg, Mohalla President of the area while talking to GNS said the accused was a drug addict and a very irresponsible person. “He should be arrested immediately and stern action should be taken against him so that it should serve as a warning for others before thinking of committing such heinous crimes.”
Meanwhile, a case FIR No. 98/2013 under section 376/511 has been registered in police station Safa Kadal.
“We have started investigation in this regard and the accused will be arrested soon,” a police official while wishing anonymity told GNS said.
