Father won an award for one film and his son and daughter, both minors, got the best award for their film at the same function in Delhi.
The kids had done a brief film Noori – the Light, a film on world’s first Pashmina goat that was cloned by the SKUAST scientists. The young filmmakers are Purtaas and Zameem Jalal.
Their father Jalaluddin Baba won the award for his film Saving the Saviour, a film on the Wular lake where an orphan is making living by collecting the plastic from the water body.
The two films were screened at a glittering function at National Physical Laboratory Auditorium at India International Science Film Festival 2016 that was jointly organized by Department of Science & Technology, Department of Earth Sciences, CSIR, ISRO in collaboration with UK Consul, Embassies of Israel, USA, Germany and Sweden.
Both the films in two separate categories won the best film awards in all categories – films by individual, institutions and by students, colleges and the universities of India. Dr Mike Pandey was chairman of the jury. Dr Harshest Vardhav, Minister for Science & Technology awarded the Jalal family.
The film that Jalal’s kids produced was inspired by a Kashmir Life report.
