Bashir Ahmad Kabli

SRINAGAR: Bashir Ahmad Kabli, former District Information Officer passed away early this week. He was unwell for the last three months.

Kabuli was the father of noted news-photographer, Fayaz Kabli who worked for the international wire agency, Reuters during the most crucial period of Kashmir situation.

Kabli, family sources said, was detected carrying a malignancy in his throat by late September. He underwent a series of chemo and radiotherapies at the SKIMS in Srinagar. On the yearend night, he suffered a cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the hospital where the doctors said he was brought dead. Kabli had retired as District Information Officer in 1998.

Kabli younger brother, Nazir Kabli, also served the information department.

Kabli is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters. All his children are settled. The family received condolences at their Nowgam residence for three days.
