The Enforcement Squad of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) today conducted market checking at Batamaloo and recovered Rs 6400 fine from shopkeepers for violation of rules.

As per a handout issued here, the team headed by Deputy Director, FCS&CA, Mohammed Akbar Bhat conducted market checking at Batamaloo and its adjoining areas. Various establishments including meat shops, milk shops, bakers, restaurants, provisional stores, vegetable and fruit vendors were checked.

During the inspection, some shopkeepers and street vendors were found selling unhygienic food items, underweight packages and violating other laws including non-display of rate lists, misuse of domestic gas cylinders and overcharging. The erring shopkeepers were penalized with Rs 6400 on the spot.
