Fearing ‘Vandalism’, Railway Derails Train in Kashmir on Eid

The Railway has decided to temporarily suspend train services between Banihal-Baramulla apprehending untoward incidents on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha on September 26-27, 2015.

“In the light of the recent incidences of vandalism to sophisticated railway installations and obstruction to train crew in operating trains in the Valley by anti-social elements,” the statement issued by railway said, “Northern Railway appeals to the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir to discourage and prevent anti-social elements indulging in mindless vandalism and obstruction of rail operations as the general public is put to great inconvenience causing a chain of detrimental conditions.”
