J&K Minister for Finance, Labour, Employment and Culture, economist Dr Haseeb A Drabu Friday early morning visited the protesting volunteers of National Youth Corps (NYC) and assured them early rehabilitation.

NYC volunteers are demanding regularisation in government sector. They were engaged in 2010 on temporary basis when Kashmir was shut for almost half a year.

Dr Drabu had come to see NYC volunteers who are on hunger strike for last eleven days on Wednesday evening and had assured them that their genuine grievances would be solved.

“Everyone is concerned about you,” Dr Drabu told the agitating youth, “take care of yourself.” He was referring to their health conditions.

Dr Drabu told them, “I have some plans in mind which I will be implementing from next month and a process would start.”

“You need to understand that wrongs have been done to you and we too are aware of it,” he said, “I have talked to government of India and my own government about you.”

Dr Drabu told the NYC volunteers that his government is working on their issues, however, he asserted, “I don’t want to disclose it as it should not prove wrong in the end.” “I promise you that I will solve your issue soon. But you need to give me some time and you need to understand our pressures as well as there are huge mass of people whose jobs are temporary.”

Speaking on the occasion, the NYC volunteers thanked Dr Drabu for taking their issue seriously and on priority basis, however, they said, “they would wait and continue their protest till demands are met.”
