A massive fire broke out in areas under Dachigam National Park late Saturday evening, reports said.
The fire has reportedly engulfed some parts of Mahadev peak. Speaking to Kashmir Life, a wildlife official said that the spots near Charsbal were caught in leaping flames and that staff has been deposed to extinguish the inferno. The official also expressed hope that the fire would be doused soon. “Our men are there at the spot,” he said.
The official said that the cause of fire was still not known and they would ascertain the reason as soon as the situation becomes normal. He also speculated that it could well have happened because of the ongoing dry spell.
