SRINAGAR: A building of Darul-ul-Uloom (Islamic seminary) in Chandigam Lolab, a district in north Kashmir, was damaged by a fire on Saturday.

According to official sources, the fire broke out in the residential quarters of the seminary, Darul-ul-Uloom ‘Khair U Darsain,’ at around 7 am. The fire quickly engulfed the building, but it was extinguished promptly. However, the building suffered significant damage. The fire also caused harm to books and literature stored inside the building. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported.

A police officer stated that immediate firefighting measures were taken upon receiving the information about the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, although preliminary findings suggest a possible short circuit as the cause. (GNS)
