Firing Near EDI: ‘One Slain Militant Belongs to Sopore’

In the late evening firing Tuesday between forces and militants at Sempora near J&K EDI, one of the slain militants has been identified as belonging to North Kashmir’s Sopore town.

Shakir Showkat Bhat, police have said, is a resident of Nowpora area of Sopore. “He was mostly active in south Kashmir after he had joined militant ranks,” reports emerging from his home district said.

Two rebels were killed as they opened fire on a joint police and CRPF party at Sempora injuring four people, including two CRPF men and as many civilians early this evening.
