A two day First Aid training programme, organized by Civil Defence Organization Kargil, was held in Kargil.

The training was provided to the volunteers by a team of experts from USA led by Jeremy Hingle Director International Mountain Leadership Institute USA and Grant Campbell consultant in Ambulance and Emergency Medical Training at Lady Willing don Hospital Manali imparted basic training on “Lend a Hand” system in First Aid, Moving the patient, First Aid Supplies, Clearing the Airway, Evacuation, Wound Management and Fracture\Dislocations.DSC02751 F

As per a statement the programme was held on June 17 and 18, 2013 at District police lines Kargil under the supervision of DY SP (DAR), Deputy Controller Civil Defence Stanzen Losal. Chief Warden Civil Defence/Medical Officer Dr Anayat Mir coordinated this program. Twenty people were selected for the training from civil defence volunteers, SDRF and police. The experts introduced each of the skills to the students who then practiced and demonstrated a basic knowledge of the skill through role playing and site seen dramas.

At the end each trainee was advised to practice their skills regularly and lead to teach them in their respective community as first responders to save human lives during disasters, reads the statement.
