SRINAGAR: The first case of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus in Kashmir was detected in Uri town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A 31-year-old pregnant lady from Uri tested positive for the omicron variant of Covid 19.
Her sample was sent for genome sequencing on December 30 and returned positive for Omicron variant today, on January 11, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar told Kashmir Life.
The lady has since recovered.
Kumar asked people to adhere to Covid-appropriate behaviour and wear masks as Covid-19 is spreading fast.
Kumar said the testing, contact tracing, and other Covid-19 related arrangements have been strengthened.
