The fish farm namely ‘Peerzada Brother’s Trout Fish Farm’ is located along Tosamaidan Road at Donkulibagh Sail Beerwah area.

The owner of the fish farm who is a postgraduate student and had started this venture said that water for the fish farm comes from a stream where material is being lifted for road purposes.

“Till Thursday late night, the water supply was smooth. As we woke up on Friday pre-dawn hours we found a large number of fish dead. On inquiry, we found the workers had stopped the water supply leading to the death of over 2500 fish,” he said.

He said they started this fish farm due to the presence of limpid water in Sukhnag Nallah. “But due to continuous pollution and dredging, the depth increased leading to the blockage of the water supply. At present, we are getting water from the local nallah where minerals are being transported somewhere. People working there choked the water supply during night hours leading to the killing of fish at my farm,” he said and appealed to the concerned department to compensate him on humanitarian grounds.

The owner of the fish farm said that over 3.5 quintal fish perished due to human negligence. (KNT).
