Five Drug Peddlers Held in South Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday arrested five persons in separate drug-related incidents in Awantipora, Pampore, and Kulgam, recovering various narcotic substances and cash.

A police spokesperson in a statement said, “In Awantipora, a police team from Police Post Toll Plaza, under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora, intercepted two individuals at a checkpoint in Kaigam Crossing. A search led to the recovery of 315 grams of charas in stick form. The accused were identified as Mayser Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh. Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Ladermar, and Arshid Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh. Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Gadibal Handwara. A case under FIR No. 119/2025 has been registered at Police Station Awantipora.”

“In Pampore, police arrested two individuals during a checkpoint operation at Kadlabal. The search, conducted by a team led by SHO Pampore DySP(P) Shravan Singh, resulted in the seizure of 2.25 grams of brown sugar and ₹12,000 in cash, suspected to be proceeds of narcotic sales. The accused were identified as Firdous Ahmad Mir alias Fir Codein, son of Gh. Hassan Mir, resident of Kadlabal Pampore, and Sahil Shafi Khan, son of Mohd Shafi Khan, resident of Dalgate Srinagar. A case has been registered under FIR No. 57/2025 at Police Station Pampore,” police said.

In a separate incident in Kulgam, a police team from Police Post Mirbazar apprehended a man attempting to flee during a patrol in Mirbazar. “Upon search, 518 grams of charas powder was recovered from a bag he was carrying. The accused, identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Naikoo, son of Sanaullah Naikoo, resident of Kachpora, has been booked under FIR No. 94/2025 at Police Station Qazigund.”

Police have urged the public to share information related to drug trafficking and assured strict action against those involved.
