Five Health Centres Get District Hospital Status In Ladakh

   

SRINAGAR: The Ladakh administration has designated five existing health institutions as district hospitals in the newly created districts of the Union Territory, with immediate effect.

According to an order issued by the Health and Medical Education Department on August 7, the move has been approved by the competent authority with the aim of strengthening healthcare delivery in the newly created districts.

The existing CHC Nubra has been designated as District Hospital, Nubra, while PHC Khaltsi has been designated as District Hospital, Sham.

Similarly, PHC Tangtse has been designated as District Hospital, Changthang, CHC Drass as District Hospital, Drass, and CHC Padum as District Hospital, Zanskar.

The department said the redesignation has been made for administrative and functional purposes and will be implemented using the existing sanctioned manpower and available infrastructure.

The order, issued by the Health and Medical Education Department, stated that the designations would come into force with immediate effect.

The move comes as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and service delivery in the newly created districts of Ladakh.
