SRINAGAR : Doda Police on Saturday arrested an absconder wanted in connection with a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, officials said.
The accused, identified as Shamas Din, son of Abdul Rashid and a resident of Bhata Chaka in Doda, was wanted in FIR No. 262/2024 registered at Police Station Doda under Sections 137 and 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3 and 4 of the POCSO Act.
Officials said a general warrant of arrest had been issued against Din by the Court of Principal Sessions Judge, Bhaderwah, on August 28, 2025.
Acting on specific information, a team led by the Incharge of Police Post Khellani apprehended the accused and produced him before the court on Saturday.
Following the court’s directions, he was subsequently lodged in District Jail, Bhaderwah, officials said.
Police said the arrest was part of its ongoing efforts to trace absconders and execute pending warrants against persons evading the legal process.
