Five Injured in Ganderbal Road Accident

   

SRINAGAR: Five persons, including two tourists from Maharashtra, were injured in a road accident at Rail Gund in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday, with one of the injured drivers reported to be in critical condition, officials said.

The accident occurred after a collision between two cars at Rail Gund Kangan, prompting immediate response from police and locals.

Reports said that soon after receiving information, SHO Rayees Ahmad, along with his team rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

“All the injured were immediately shifted to Primary Health Centre Gund for treatment,” locals said adding that two among injured were later to shifted to Sub District Hospital Kangan.

“One of the drivers is in critical condition and is undergoing treatment,” hospital sources added.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated proceedings to ascertain the cause of the accident. Initial reports suggest a head-on collision due to over speeding, though officials said the exact circumstances are under investigation.

Among the five injured, three are from Ladakh while two from Maharashtra. [KNT]
