Five militants have been killed in an encounter with police and security forces in Gader forests in Keller area of Shopian, a police statement said Thursday afternoon.
“On a tip off, Shopian police along with 44RR and CRPF launched a search operation in forest area of Gader Kellar, Shopian, this morning. During the searches, militants present in the forest fired upon the joint search team, triggering an encounter in which five militants were killed,” the statement said. “The identity of the militants is being ascertained.”
3 AK rifles, one SLR rifle and one pistol has been recovered from the encounter site so far. The search operation is still going on,” the statement said adding, “More details to follow.”
