The announcement was made through an official post on X, stating that the notification for the new districts has been approved to meet a long-standing public demand and enhance governance at the grassroots level.

According to the LG Office, the decision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Ladakh and was previously approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs in August 2024 under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Officials said the creation of the new districts is aimed at decentralising administration, improving delivery of public services in far-flung regions, and promoting growth, employment, and entrepreneurship across the Union Territory.
