SRINAGAR: At least five students were injured after a window fell over them during routine class work at a government school in Rajouri while the education department has ordered a probe to ascertain the facts.
Locals said that the incident took place at Dantode village in the Budhal area in the Rajouri district.
They said that in the morning hours when routine class work was going on at Government Middle School Dantode, a window fell over the students, resulting in injuries to five among them.
The incident triggered resentment among locals, who stated that the dilapidated condition of the school building is the reason behind the incident.
Locals further said that the matter was raised with the authorities several times but there was no response in this regard, thereby putting the lives of students at great risk.
Meanwhile, the Education Department has ordered a time-bound probe into the matter, asking the probe panel to submit its in-depth report within a day.
The probe panel has been constituted by Chief Education Officer Rajouri and it has been asked to conduct an in-depth inquiry—(KNO)
