SRINAGAR: The family and relatives of an eight-year-old girl from Srinagar’s Noorbagh area staged a protest on Monday, seeking information about her whereabouts. They alleged that she had been kidnapped by their non-local daughter-in-law, who had been with the family for only three days after her marriage.
According to the girl’s father, his brother had married a non-local woman the previous week, and shortly thereafter, the woman left the house and took their daughter with her.
A relative stated that the Nikah ceremony had taken place on Thursday of the previous week, with a simple function attended by close relatives and family members. They were shocked to discover that the bride had fled and taken the niece along with her.
The family members reported the incident to the concerned police station and informed the officials about the matter.
Meanwhile, a police official confirmed that a kidnapping case had been registered and investigations were underway, without providing further details about the case. (KNO)
