SRINAGAR: The Zanskar–Kargil road was blocked on Wednesday after a flash flood struck Shafat Nallah, disrupting traffic on the vital route, officials said.
According to the District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC), Kargil, the sudden flash flood triggered a heavy flow of debris onto the road, forcing the suspension of vehicular movement.
Quoting officials news agency GNS reported that the road clearance operations are underway to restore connectivity at the earliest.
The DEOC has advised travellers to avoid the route until the road is cleared and to remain in touch with local authorities for the latest updates.
