Flood Frame Fetches Kashmir’s AP Photo Journalist Top Indian Award

Kashmir’s senior photo journalist, Dar Yasin, was Tuesday awarded top Indian award for his coverage of 2014 Kashmir Floods.

Dar Yasin, a Srinagarite, is a staffer with international news agency, Associated Press (AP).

He won famed Ramnath Goenka Annual Award. The award is given by The Indian Express.

Speaking to Kashmir Life, Dar Yasin said, “it is an honour for me to win this award.”

Dar has covered war torn Afghanistan among other major assignments.

Dar who is in journalism for last 14 years worked as a freelancer for mainland Indian newspapers and news magazines before joining the AP.

“I worked as a video journalist initially then switching to a full time photo journalist,” he said.

The Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards, instituted by The Express Group in the memory of its founder.
