SRINAGAR

Although it has stopped raining in Central and South Kashmir, the water level in Jhelum has crossed flood mark in Srinagar.

The I&FC given details about the gauge reading at 8 am (0800 hrs) are:

Sangam = 26.80 ft (RED)

Ram Munshibagh = 19.80 ft (RED)

Asham = 11.25 ft (GREEN)

The water level rising does not translate in to an imminent flood. Let’s be alert but there is no need to panic, an official wrote.

“The harsh reality is that people tend to get jittery due to the too fresh memories of not so distant past.”
