All roads leading to Lasjan bye pass are jam packed as the locals have blocked highway near Lasjan bye-pass and Nowgam. The locals are protesting against the inability of government to reach the flood victims of this area.

As per an eyewitness the protesters were demanding for, “Relief and electricity and they were saying if government fails to do so then they should give us Azadi.”

While as the commuters who were caught in the jam are not able to move out of the increasing jam packed road. “I am waiting on Lasjan bridge from past 1.30 hours but the protesters are not allowing the traffic to move. They have blocked the highway on both sides, Lasjan bridge and in Nowgam,” said Irfan who was traveling from Pampore.

After recent floods, Srinagar and other flood hit areas are witnessing continuous protests with people demanding proper shelter ahead of the winter.

The government response has been termed “lukewarm” with people alleging that the incumbent government has no proper rehabilitation plan in mind for the flood hit.
