SRINAGAR: In a significant move, the Floriculture, Gardens and Parks Department, has taken over 12 gardens and parks comprising 1029 Kanal of land for maintenance and development which were earlier being looked after by Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited under CSR mode.

An official handout reads that these parks included prime spots of tourist attractions including Iqbal park and Badamwari garden in the Srinagar district.

While talking about the development, Commissioner Secretary Floriculture, Gardens and Parks Department, Sheikh Fayaaz Ahmed, said that it is the prime Department for developing, maintaining and beautifying gardens and parks in the entire Union Territory of J&K. “The department has got the best-skilled manpower to maintain and beautify the gardens and parks under their jurisdiction in the best possible manner”, he added.

Out of 12 parks being taken over from J&K Bank Limited, 7 parks are located at different places of Anantnag district including  Amusement Park Pahalgam,  Hikers Park Pahalgam,  Lidder View Park Pahalgam,  Gulistan Wazirbagh Park,  Rani Bagh Park,  Darashikoh Park Bijbehara and Padshahibagh  Park Bijbehara.

Simultaneously, 2 such prestigious parks including Iqbal Park and Badam-wari garden in Srinagar and 1 park each in Pulwama, Baramulla and Jammu districts  are also being taken over by Floriculture, Gardens and Parks Department for better maintenance. These parks included  Shaheed Park Pulwama,  Gulnar Park in Baramulla and   Rajinder Children’s Park in Jammu district.
