SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday said that the biggest strength of democracy is the ability to sit across a table and exchange views, and further said that people of J&K especially the youth have to provide political leadership to Jammu and Kashmir.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister wrote, “Our democracy’s biggest strength is the ability to sit across a table and exchange views. I told the leaders of J&K that it is the people, especially the youth who have to provide political leadership to J&K, and ensure their aspirations are duly fulfilled.”

Meanwhile, during the meeting, the government of India shared a presentation on the developmental projects and schemes in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources say PM Modi expressed satisfaction with the “acceleration of development” in the UT and said that it is “creating new hope and aspirations among the people”.

The PM reportedly also said that political differences are there but everyone should work in the national interest so that the people of J&K benefit from it. He stressed that an atmosphere of safety and security needs to be ensured for all sections of society in J&K.

He stressed that there is a need to ensure an environment of safety and security for all in Jammu and Kashmir. The PM said that he wants to erase ‘Dilli ki Doori’ and ‘Dil ki Doori’.
