Authorities Friday while foiling the Budgam march, placed senior separatist leader Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi under house arrest, a move condemned by socio-religious organization Anjuman Shari Shian.

“Depriving people from offering tributes to slain youth killed by India during election drama is condemnable. This shows the imperialistic mindset of authorities,” the organization in a statement said.

While condemning the house arrest of Aga Syed Hasan and imposition of restrictions on the movement of people, the spokesperson said that such oppressive tactics can’t break the resolve of the people. “India can’t mislead the international community as it has got exposed now. Stopping religious and separatist leader from leading Friday prayers amount to religious interference,” the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Aga Syed Hasan said that the barbarism and cruel methods used by India in Kashmir has brought a bad name to its so-called democracy. He lauded the role of freedom loving for boycotting the elections. “Boycotting elections shows the spirit and loyalty of people towards freedom struggle,” he said and added that despite restrictions people including Geelani group led by Mudasir Nadhvi managed to reach Imambara Budgam to pay tributes to the youth who fall to the bullets.
