Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi, on Saturday said that after failing to force Kashmiris into participating in the election process, forces have now started to brutalise Kashmiri youth within the educational institutions.
Andrabi was referring to brutal action by forces against the students of Degree College Pulwama.
Andrabi, in a statement, said that the forces along with Kashmir police jointly had set up a naka outside Degree College Pulwama and were waiting for the students to come so that they (students) can be arrested.
“ The forces have unleashed a wave of arrests across Kashmir and wherever and whenever they get a chance, they bundle dozens of our children,” she said.
She said that on Saturday afternoon a forces’ vehicle tried to enter inside the college campus. “The youth studying there resented this move and started protesting. Within no time, these forces started raining pellets and teargas shells on these innocent students, injuring as many 60 of them including scores of female students,” she said.
She said that eight students including two female students received pellet injuries and where shifted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar. “ One among them has received a bullet and is critically injured and has been shifted to SKIMS Soura,” and few students ruthlessly beaten were taken to Barzulla bone and joint hospital and scores in Pulwama district hospitals, she said.
She said that on one hand, children of Kashmir are asked to study but on the other hand the same students are being brutalized within their college campuses. “ It is nothing but political vendetta. India has come to terms that it has been rejected in Kashmir, which is why they have unleashed a reign of terror against innocent youth. This is how they are playing with the future of our children. I wonder how those kids would study who have been lodged in different jails and police stations and hospitals,” she questioned.
“When will India understand that it stands rejected in Kashmir? Just two days have passed when people gave it a clear referendum that it must leave Kashmir as soon as possible,” she added.
She said that many students were arrested in Pulwama and were beaten mercilessly and abused on roads and inside army vehicles. “ These children were bleeding profusely while these merciless forces were beating and abusing them inside the vehicles and were forcefully asking them to shout slogans against resistance movement and Pakistan. These forces must know that they can’t kill the sentiment by placing a gun on our heads,” she said.
“This is limit to oppression and brutality. What kind of the ‘bravery’ is this that forces with gun in hand are terrifying innocent kids. This is cowardice,” she said.
