Forces Conduct Search Operation in Tral, Youth Held

Day after militants and government forces exchanged gunfire in South Kashmir’s Tral area of Pulwama district, the forces on Thursday carried out massive searches in the area.

Militants and army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles last night exchanged gunfire at Soimuh village of Tral. However, the militants were able to flee from the area.

A police official told GNS the searches were conducted by army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operations Group (SOG) of JKP at Buchoo and Kamala forests and Rathsuna, Soimuh and Haridmir. Although, no fresh exchange of fire was reported.

Meanwhile, a youth was from Dadasara was detained by army at Soimuh village and was later handed over to police, sources said. The detained youth has been identified as Amir Majeed.
