Forces given free hand to ‘terrorize’ Kashmiris: Jama’at-e-Islami

Srinagar

Jama’at-e-Islami on Thursday said that the government forces have been given a free hand to terrorise common Kashmiris.

In a statement issued here a spokesperson of Jama’at said that during “harsh” crackdown of Heff village in Shopian, the forces “indiscriminately” fired upon the peaceful protestors injuring more than thirty six persons thereby creating a reign of terror in the area.

“The forces personnel also used unjustified force upon the people during the search operations mainly targeting the family members of the local Mujahideens and ransacking their household properties. When the masses reacted against this highhandedness, the Army and SOG personnel started unprovoked firing and shelling upon them intimidating the whole population. This seems to be a part of the well designed policy of Indian government for suppressing the civilians in the valley so that no one dares to stand against this state barbarism but people here have made these plans a total failure.”

The spokesperson denounced “atrocious” acts carried on the Israeli pattern against the unarmed civilians and appealed the international community to intervene in this “grave” situation and take effective measures to stop this “barbarism”.
