Government forces on Wednesday launched a cordon-and-search operation (CASO) in Bhaderwan area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

A police official said a joint team of army’s 55 RR, 44 RR, CRPF and SOG of the Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off Bhaderwan area of Awantipora early morning after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

“The heavy concentration of the forces was witnessed in the area and all the routes leading to Bhaderwan had been sealed, and house to house search operation is going on,” sources said.
