Government forces on Sunday launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in several villages of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Reports said a joint team of army and Special Operational Group (SoG) of Police today early morning arrived in the district and laid a siege to several villages including  Balpora, Barthipora, Wathoo, Ganowpora and Shirmal villages of the district.

The searches in the area were going on, however, it was not immediately known whether the area was seized following the inputs regarding the militants or it was routine check.
