Government forces on Friday launched a cordon and search operation in Chandigeer village of Hajin, district Bandipora followed by several gunshots.
Reports said that government forces cordoned off the Chandigeer village after receiving the following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Reports said that few gunshots were heard as the cordon was being tightened by the forces but It was not immediately clear if militants fired at the forces or the latter fired some speculative shots.
Meanwhile, protests broke out between the youth and the government forces in the area after the forces laid siege to the area.
