During wee hours, when people in a vast belt of Pulwama moved out, they found they are in a siege. The army, CRPF and the police have taken more than a half a dozen villages in a tight cordon preventing anybody from moving out, reports reaching from Pulwama said.

All the entry and exit points to the villages have been sealed and forces of Army’s 55 RR, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operations Group (SOG)  are on Job, sources said.

An official said that house to house searches have been started in the villages after input about the presence of militants.

He said that CASO was launched in Rohmu, Below,Rajpora, Putrigam, Mitrigam,Frasipura,Gasu, Kucchepura, Chak,Mirgund, Murran, Zagigam, Tukarpura, Kamrazipura, Drubgam, Hanjan,. Ayangund and Shekharpora areas of district Pulwama.

The crackdown comes after abductions by militants last week.

The operation was underway when this report was being filed.
