Government forces on Thursday morning launched a cordon and search operation in Dangerpora village in Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports said that a joint team of army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched the operation following inputs about the presence of militants in Dangerpora village.

They added that a large number of troops have been deployed in the area and door to door search operation has started in the area.

The search operation was going on when the last reports came in.

Meanwhile, authorities suspended internet services in Sopore town soon after the search operation was launched.

An official said that the educational institutions have also been closed in the town in the wake of the search operation.

He said that in order to prevent any law and order breakdown the Government Boys and Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore, Government Higher Secondary School Dangerpora and Government Degree College Sopore shall remain closed on May 30.
