Soon after the news of gunfight in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district spread, people mostly youth hit the streets and clashed with the government forces on Thursday morning.

Reports said that people mostly youth assembled in the town and clashed with the government forces to thwart the anti-militant operation. The protesting youth pelted the government forces with stones and forces in retaliation resorted to aerial firing to disperse the protestors.

The gunfight at Gulshan Pora Tral began today morning after forces launched the CASO in the area. A police official said that the CASO was launched after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the area. “Army, J&K Police and the paramilitary CRPF personnel are on job,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir police took to the twitter handle and wrote: “Exchange of fire between security forces & militants at higher reaches of Tral Awantipora. Further details will follow.”

The clashes in the area were going on when this report was being filed.
