Authorities on Thursday snapped the Internet service in police district Awantipora following the gunfight between militants and forces in Gulshanpora area of south Kashmir’s Tral town of Pulwama district.
Reports said that soon after a gunfight broke out, the authorities suspended the Internet service in police district Awantipora which includes Pampore, Awantipora and Tral.
Earlier a joint team of army’s 42 RR, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched the operation after the militant movement was detected in the area.
As the joint team of forces intensified searches, the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering a gunfight.
The exchange of firing was going on when last reports came in.
