Forest Fire Erupts in North Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: A forest fire erupted in compartment 35 near the water supply scheme in Watlab, Sopore on Tuesday evening, prompting an extensive firefighting operation.

According to officials, forest staff, Forest Protection Force (FPF) personnel, Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) officials, and locals from Kenusa and Rampora are actively working to extinguish the blaze and prevent its spread to nearby areas.

“The cause of the fire remains unknown, and efforts are ongoing to contain it,” an official said.

Authorities are taking all possible measures to minimise damage to the forested region. Updates are expected once the fire is brought under control, officials added.
