SRINAGAR: Former senior bureaucrat and politician Gazanfar Ali suffered a major heart attack and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), family sources said on Monday.
Sources said Gazanfar Ali is currently undergoing treatment under close medical supervision.
News of his sudden illness has sparked concern across political, social and administrative circles in Kashmir, where he is widely known for his long public service career.
During his bureaucratic tenure, Gazanfar Ali served in several key positions, including Director of Rural Development and Commissioner of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC). He later retired as Director General of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir.
After retiring from government service, he joined active politics and contested elections from the Lal Chowk Assembly constituency in Srinagar.
Family members have appealed to the public to pray for his speedy and complete recovery. (JKNS)
