SRINAGAR: Former Gurez legislator and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Faqeer Muhammad Khan allegedly took his own life using his licensed revolver at his government accommodation in Tulsibagh, Srinagar. The incident has sent shockwaves across political circles, prompting an immediate investigation.
Officials said that Khan was found dead in his official residence. The reason behind the extreme step remains unknown, and authorities have launched a probe to determine the circumstances leading to his death.
Khan had contested the 2024 Assembly elections from the Gurez constituency on a BJP ticket but was defeated by National Conference leader and former minister Nazir Ahmad Khan.
