SRINAGAR: The body of a former Village Defence Guard (VDG) member was found under mysterious circumstances in the forests of the Chapper area in Udhampur district on Tuesday.
Officials said that the body of a disengaged VDG member was discovered along with a rifle (303) in the Chapper forests.
The deceased has been identified as Ashok Kumar (45), son of Romal Chand, a resident of Chapper, Udhampur.
A police team soon rushed to the scene and took the body into their possession for medico-legal formalities.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway. (GNS)
