SRINAGAR: Police in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir have arrested all four accused in connection with the alleged Bhambla assault, with three of them being apprehended in Jalandhar, Punjab, officials said on Wednesday.
According to a police statement, the case was registered on September 4 after four persons allegedly armed with lathis entered a shop near the petrol pump at Bhambla and assaulted Sachin Puri, causing him serious injuries. The accused allegedly threatened the victim before fleeing the spot.
Police said one of the accused, Kartik Uppal, a resident of Rah Salyote in Reasi district, was apprehended shortly after the incident, while the remaining three allegedly fled outside Jammu and Kashmir.
Following the incident, SSP Reasi constituted a special team to trace the absconding accused. Police said the team conducted raids at several locations in Reasi, elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir and outside the Union Territory, besides using technical surveillance and human intelligence.
The three accused subsequently arrested in Jalandhar have been identified as Shubham Sharma, son of Rattan Lal, resident of Godhar, Tehsil Pouni, Reasi; Mohit Sharma, son of Rattan Lal, resident of Godhar, Tehsil Pouni, Reasi; and Anmol Sudan, son of Romesh Chander, resident of Rah Salyote, Tehsil Chowki Choura, Jammu.
Police said the case was registered as FIR No. 51/2026 at Police Station Pouni under Sections 109, 332(c), 115(2), 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The operation was led by PSI Amit Sharma under the supervision of Inspector Ravinder Singh, SHO Pouni, and DySP SOG Pouni Smriti Sharma-JKPS, according to the police statement.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
