SRINAGAR: A 32-year-old man died after allegedly falling unconscious at a police post in the R S Pura sector of Jammu early Wednesday, according to media reports.
The deceased was identified as Uttam Chand, a resident of Rakh village. Media reports, citing preliminary information from sources, said Chand had been called to the Chakroi police post following a complaint by a woman neighbour over a property dispute.
According to the reports, Chand fell unconscious at the police post and was taken to Sub-District Hospital, R S Pura, at around 4am.
He was subsequently referred to Government Medical College, Jammu, but died while being taken to the hospital, the sources said. His body was later shifted to a mortuary for postmortem examination.
Following his death, Chand’s family members and relatives staged a protest, demanding clarity over the circumstances surrounding his death and seeking appropriate action.
