SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police announced on Monday that they have resolved a murder case in which a woman from Bemina lost her life, all within just five days of the incident.

“On October 17, 2023, Police Station Bemina received word from reliable sources that an unknown woman had been slain, her lifeless body discovered on the roadside in Durbal, Bemina. Promptly, a team from Police Station Bemina rushed to the scene to secure the body and preserve the area,” read an official press release.

Subsequently, Case FIR No 101/2023 u/s 302 IPC was filed at Police Station Bemina, and an investigation was initiated. The deceased was identified as Tanveera, the spouse of Showkat Ahmad Kaloo, residing in Nundresh Colony B, Batamaloo, Srinagar.

“Through a thorough inquiry led by SDPO West and aided by SHO PS Bemina, it was determined that the aforementioned woman had been murdered on October 16, 2023 at West End Colony, Hyderpora. Her lifeless body was then transported from Hyderpora to Durbal Bemina in an attempt to mislead the investigators,” the statement revealed.

“Relying on available technical evidence, persistent questioning of the suspects, and subsequent discoveries, four individuals have been apprehended by Police Station Bemina: Abina Parveez (the deceased’s sister-in-law), the wife of Parveez Ahmad Shah, a resident of West End Colony, Hyderpora; an underage female (whose name is withheld); Gh Mohd Ahanger, the son of the late Haji Gh. Hussain Ahanger, residing in Khushipora HMT, currently at Gulposh Apartment Bemina; and Jala Wadoo, the wife of Gh. Mohd Ahanger, living in Khushipora HMT, now residing in Gulposh Apartment Bemina (the parents of the first accused),” the statement disclosed, with ongoing investigations.
